BIO BASED PERFORMANCE POLYMER

RILSAN

Rilsan Clear® is made from the oil of castor beans grown in the Gujarat region of India. The beans are crushed to produce castor oil. The oil is further refined during several steps to produce the primary bio-based raw material in the polymer. The Rilsan Clear® frame represents a milestone for Rudy Project’s ride to sustainability. This material is BPA Free and has the highest bio content and broadest range in the marketplace.

RILSAN FRAMES

Rilsan Clear® is a high performance sustainable and bio-based polymer of 100% renewable origin, developed by Arkema. Rilsan Clear®’s key properties are lightness, chemical and fatigue resistance, flexibility and easy processability which make this material extremely durable, shock and weather resistant and perfectly suitable for sports use.

MAXIMUM DURABILITY

All Rudy Project products are designed to be extremely durable. Our state-of-the-art materials extend the life of our products which are sweat, ice, water and heat proof. Products are the perfect solution to our throwaway culture.

WASTE MANAGEMENT AND SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCTION

Rudy Project is committed to responsible waste management. We have developed and implemented programs to reduce waste generation and constantly increase recycling. For example, in 2019, the 81% of the waste produced by the company has been recycled and transformed in raw material in compliance with the EU regulations. Thanks to the solar panels on the roof we produce 43.000kWh / year

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

All the Rudy Project products feature new sustainable packaging built with recycled/re-used materials in order to minimize the environmental impact of boxes, pouches and eyewear cases. The new eyewear case is built with reused material from eyewear.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

We have started to promote initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. Our first step was subscribing to the Treedom online platform and planting our forest in Africa. We gifted trees to our stakeholders, to improve the life of our planet and the Cameroon farming community. In 2014 Treedom became part of the Certified B Corporations, a network of companies that stand out for high environmental and social performance.
